Nike — especially their running division — has been built on the back of innovation. Without their constant quest to be the best, we wouldn’t have innovations like wedged heels, track spikes, and Nike Air cushioning. As technology advances at a rate of knots, so does their new silhouettes. The latest innovation is the Nike Spark Flyknit, which appears to take a multi-layered, multi-material approach to its underfoot cushioning and response.
Though not much is currently known about the Spark, it does appear to layer on three levels of tech. In between the two midsole foams (perhaps EVA and React) sits a midfoot shank that is visible from lateral, medial, and underside scooping. The upper is equally unique in its construction, appearing similar to many of Nike’s D/MS/X offerings. Purple-colored knits create an outer layer, that’s then blended into the see-through window at the side showing tints of green. It wraps around the heel like a pull, indicating that there may well be an inner bootie to this new design, too.
