After some time out of the limelight, the Nike Trainer SC High saw a small return to shelves in 2020 for its 30th birthday bash. Since then, releases were few and far between, the last of which hitting shelves in mid-2021 in Georgetown garb. Now, with the confirmation of a return of the OG “Auburn” colorway, the Swoosh will look to one of Bo Jackson’s other famous uniform strips, with this Nike Trainer SC High “Kansas City Royals” delivering a touch of nostalgia to the classic silhouette.
Though the recently-revealed “University Blue” colorway came equipped with baseball-stitched laces, this new color scheme is more aligned with the Royals, given its light power blue, royal, grey and white garb that mimics the famous baby blue uniforms of the franchise. The upper, mostly blue, works through smooth and perforated leathers, with color-matched mesh tongues forming the bulk of the light blue. From there, tongue tips work with eyestays and straps in classic baseball-pant grey, with pops of royal at the forefoot and tongue liner nodding the franchise in question. A singular black leather Swoosh nods the era’s baseball belts to complete the uppers, before all four colors converse on the multi-faceted sole unit to complete the design.
