The Glove’s Frist Signature Sneaker Returns after 20 Years
We’ve covered a bit of Sonic-themed sneakers of late: our Air Jordan 6 “Six Rings” Concept, celebrating the Bulls 1996 victory over the franchise, the return of the OG Air Jordan 10 “Seattle” and our Gary Payton-inspired Air Jordan 5s. And with the latter Superstar in mind, it’s a timely reminder that his Nike Zoom GP will be arriving for its first ever re-release, 20 long years after it originally debuted.
Rocking asymmetrical lace covers, and a clip lockdown system inspired by ski boots so you can wear ’em tighter than the Gloves defense, and a unique mudguard with oval cut-out detailing, it remains true to its overly complex, 90s-style design. And although it’s not as famous as his Zoom Glove, this Zoom Air-loaded GP was Gary’s first-ever signature sneaker, making it a must-have for any Sonics superfan.
Pairs of the Nike Zoom GP will now release on June 15th, after they were originally scheduled for a drop in April. Select stores like Finish Line, SNS and Nike.com will have them in stock for $160, so take a peep at the official image set below while you wait out the release.
