The last time Shaquille O'Neal's footwear enjoyed a moment in the spotlight was in late September thanks to the larger-than-life personality's partnership with The Hershey Company. Today, "Diesel" took to social media to unveil the latest chapter in his SHAQ® line of shoes, which was founded in 2001. Instead of taking the shape of extra-large gummies, O'Neal's offerings arrive in the form of a performance-ready Dunkman 1.0.
Presented in the same black-and-white color scheme as SHAQ® Footwear's budget-friendly Devastator, the all-new Dunkman 1.0 falls in line with low-top aesthetics found on popular designs from Nike Basketball and PUMA Hoops, amongst others. The silhouette sees a busy upper covered in a mix of carefully-considered materials. The sole unit features a mid-foot shank for stability, as well as a robust cushioning solution for comfort and energy return. O'Neal and company haven't shared specifics about the Dunkman 1.0's build, but the NBA legend has confirmed that the sneaker will be put to the test during the Dunkman slam dunk contest to air on TNT Sports and HBO Max on Thursday, Dec. 4.
As the NBA sees more and more athletes with endorsement deals with non-traditional sportswear brands, it's possible someone in the league wears the all-new SHAQ® Dunkman 1.0 in the near future.
Firm release details and a full array of product shots are yet to surface.
