Stephen Curry and Under Armour have cemented themselves as a force within the performance basketball space. The Curry Brand offshoot is still in its early stages, but the athlete-specific division continues to innovate for the sport, using its namesake muse to develop products like the Curry Series 7.

Unveiled via Instagram, the UA-backed silhouette draws inspiration from running's super shoe category. Within the world of running, this type of design refers to a lightweight offering that looks to improve running efficiency through a combination of a carbon fiber stiffening agent (usually a full-length plate) and thick slab of responsive foam (under 40 millimeters of stackheight to comply with World Athletics). Models like the Nike VaporFly 4 have led the charge on the running front, but Curry is looking to do the same within the world of basketball.

Curry Brand has yet to confirm if the Series 7 proposal includes carbon fiber elements, but marketing material for the shoe includes "Powered by Under Armour Flow" messaging. It's likely Curry's latest performance design has been built with insight from the UA Velociti Elite 2 racer. A view of the Series 7's outsole reveals a cutout underneath the forefoot, with yellow "rods" running horizontally. It's possible this element is a TPU spring plate similar to what's found on the UA HALO collection.

Enjoy a closer-look at the innovative basketball shoe below. Pairs are scheduled to release via UnderArmour.com on Friday, Aug. 22.
