Most notably its grey suede duds, New Balance undoubtedly has a few sundry signature colorways that often make a return across multiple silhouettes, the OG 1300 “Steel Blue” being the most prevalent. In fact, the 1300_RC honored it last year, as too did long-time New Balance collaborator Ronnie Fieg on the 992 and 998. Now the time-tested color scheme works its way to the 1500 for Fall, stealing the Steel Blue for its own personal use.
As you’ve come to expect from New Balance, this made in UK release is heavy on craftmanship. Its condition, materials, and aesthetic are out-of-this-world. Just one look at the suede and nubuck overlays and you just know that it’s money. Greys are soft and supple, while collars and forefoot overlays of bone look just as plush. The signature steel blue mesh upper sports a subtle sheen, as to does the matching finish on the midfoot N motif. Underfoot, things are kept relatively simple, with a white and dark charcoal sole unit sitting pretty beneath to complete the design.
Pairs of the New Balance 1500 “Steel Blue” are already available in select global markets, but a Stateside release is yet to be announced.
