Available Now // Nike Re-Release Kevin Garnett’s Air Flightposite 2
KG’s OG
Nike’s Alpha Project division that kicked off in the late ’90s is responsible for some of the wildest designs in Nike’s history. One would question the sobriety of the team, who’s most famous output is the Nike Presto, with the majority of their efforts unfit for market consumption — even to this day. But there are a few that made it out alive — and to a great reception — like Kevin Garnett’s Nike Air Flightposite 2.
The middle child of sneaker God Eric Avar’s Foamposite-based Flightposite line, it’s the only of the three pairs to align itself with hard-edged, straight lines and mechanical ethos — the other two opting for more organic feels. Now, Nike will be bringing back a slightly tinkered version of Kevin Garnett’s OG colorway. While these weren’t an official signature for KG, they were issued to the future Hall of Famer for the Sydney Olympics in 2000, and ever since they’ve been aligned to the Timberwolves great.
Changes include the removal of “Garnett” on the upper, replaced by the Alpha Project’s dot stripe logo, and the pair arrives with sharper lines, more pronounced indented Swooshes, heel cut-ins, and ankle detail.
This retro Nike joins the recently confirmed return of Tim Duncan’s Total Air Foamposite Max and Reggie Miller’s Total Max Uptempo, all of which are pegged for a retro release in 2020. Stay tuned for more updates on the drop — until then, grab an official look at the pair below.
