2020 has seen a mini resurgence of Nike’s Air Penny 5lineage, with the silhouette returning in style thanks to a celebratory “Blue Chips” edition, as well as the return of the OG “Invisibility Cloak” from 2013. Now there’s news of a fresh new Nike Air Penny 5 “Miami Dolphins” colorway on the way, one that comes deep-seated in the silhouette’s heritage.

A genuine hybrid model, Nike resurrected the Air Penny line in back 2012 by debuting this Marc Dolce-designed silhouette. It equips itself with design elements from classic Penny signature shoes past, including a leather upper with a Foamposite overlays, Phylon midsoles, an Air-Sole unit in the heel, Zoom Air unit in the forefoot and “1 Cent” branding on the tongue and back heel. One of the first colorways to drop was a teal-covered “Miami Dolphins” take, which is still one of the most desired from the silhouette’s first run — but this new alternate/white Miami Dolphins make might just give them a run for its money.

Arriving with some similar features to the OG like milky-translucent outsoles, teal-tinted Zoom Air supports, white Foamposite overlays, and Oracle Aqua lacestay overlays, but despite that, it does arrive with an entirely new aesthetic. Bright white engulfs the majority of the upper — a stark contrast to 2012’s predominately green make, while black tongues and inner booties, and green heel overlays have also been switched to white. Midsoles now arrive in the franchise’s familiar orange hue, with branding hits throughout also sporting the team’s two-color combo.
