Penny Hardaway’s signature Nike sneakers have been resurgent in 2020, with the Foamposite One chugging along, whispers of an Air Penny 3 re-release and, most surprisingly, the influx of Nike Air Penny 5 colorways that have hit the market with a bang. OG fans were delighted with the return of 2013’s “Invisibility Cloak” back in February, while new options like the “Miami Dolphins”, “Blue Chips” and Memphis Tigers-like releases look to pay tribute to the All-Star Guard’s well-documented history. The next option is no different — perhaps the most obvious of the lot — with this Nike Air Penny 5 “Orlando Magic” inspired by the franchise’s retro pinstripe uniforms circa 1993, Penny’s rookie season.
Not only do we get a clean home-themed palate, but pinstripe detail on the tongue and inner boot make these unmistakably Magic. Here, uppers arrive in all-white, sandwiched between black liners and heel paint, with a sweeping royal midsole running from heel to toe. Underfoot you’ll find an icy outsole, a-la Penny’s OG Foamposite One, complete with 1 Cent branding on the tread. The famous motif returns again on the tongue and heel, and the pair is capped off with black and blue Swooshes at the lateral ankle.
Grab a quick look at the pair here below, and expect the Nike Air Penny 5 “Orlando Magic” to touch down at select retailers very soon for $150.
In other retro Nike Hoops news, the LeBron 7 “Christ The King” is set to return to retailers these Holidays.
